Warner Brothers Report
Warner Brothers 13/9/03
Warner Brothers was offically the park I was looking forward too the most on this trip. I had heard so many great things about this park so again it was hard to hide my excitement when walking through those gates for the first time.
As soon as we arrived, we all decided to go straight to Stunt Fall as we hear its a ride that is just as unreliable as the ones in America, I had ridden the DeJa Vu at SFMM in California so knew what I was letting myself in for, however this would be very new for many people. I am pleased to say that I still found it a great experience, I managed to get 2 rides on this with a back seat ride as well as a FRONT Seat, The Front Seat is absolutly stunning on the first drop, going back 200FT verticlly looking straight down is very scary indeed yet fun, Its a great ride. Also pleased to say that this ride seemed to operate fine all day, didnt notice any brakedowns when I was watching it either.
It was soon time for Superman so I went in for a quick ride, queues were not long at this point so it was nearly a walk on. Superman is an amazing floorless coaster(My Favourite floorless so far) It is a wonderful B&M, with great speed and a few suprises up it sleeves(The Airtime speed hill is great) It is then ended with a wonderful upwards helix, Great stuff. Next up was the Other B&M in this park(Batman the Ride) This feels like any other B&M Batman standard coaster although I did feel this one felt slighty more intense than normal, Prehaps it was due to the fact it is still quite new though, also managed a 2nd go in a row with no problems.
I thought I would give the Shot Tower a go next, this is a combo drop where it can launch you up and drop you, however it was only running on Launch Mode today despite testing in the morning on both modes(ODD) this ride felt ok but didnt feel that intense to me although it was later revealed to me that the particualar tower I rode is the weakest tower out of all 3,DOH. Next up was a ride on the Giant Splash(Cataratas Salvajes) Of course I thought there was no way this little ride would get me wet(considering the ones at the others parks did nothing to me) however I couldnt have been more wrong, this ride got me soaked to the skin and I really got drenched, thanks heavens for the nice weather reaching 85 degrees again otherwise it would take me all day to dry off. Next up the Wooden Coaster, I thought the woodie was OK, Its nothing special, but it certaintly was'nt too rough and I've ridden worse, had some nice airtime at times too.
Next it was round to the Rapids, I had heard these rapids were very good but sadly the ride was down, but after waiting for a while with 2 other ECC members, the ride soon opened so we got to walk on the ride. I think the ride is brilliant and has some fantastic themeing throughout, Sadly its seems a bit short but the themeing makes up for it, also plenty of places to get wet as well, and there are water guns a mere 2 meters from the boat meaning if the people aim well, you will get another soaking, also we were lucky on our ride cause the ride soon broke down again when we got back into the station(One of the boats got stuck when coming into the station) and it soon ended with about 8 boats stuck behind us(there is a picture of this in the Pictures section)
It was now time to try out any other rides and attractions I missed first time around. I gave the Tom and Jerry Coaster a miss for now as the queue was massive, so decided to go for the Haunted Swing Ride, the queue didnt look long however after queueing in the queue pens outside for 20 mins, I was shocked to find more queueing inside taking a further 20 mins(How annoying) The ride experience is OK and is very interesting and has some nice effects but I still dont rate it above Hex which is still my favourite haunted swing. Next door was the Police Academy Stunt show, it was due to start when I came out so everything worked out fine, I quite liked the show and there are some excellent effects with some nice stunts, ceraintly keep me amused anyway.
Next was the Batman Knight flight simulator. This was by no means the greatest simulator I've ridden just like all the others I've ridden so far in Spain, but it was still pretty good, at least the story made sense this time, and it didnt feel jerky. Finally it was time to try Rio Bravo, the queue was huge last time I looked but had carmed down at last but was still a good 45 mins but knowing it wouldnt get that much better, I decided to wait it out. I love some of the themeing on this ride but the ride has so much potential and it could have delivered so much more, like when you go through the town, there could have been some nice effects here and there but there is nothing, I did like the AIRTIME backwards hill though and the main drop was nice enough but the dam ride didnt even get you very wet(a suprising statement when you see the size of the final drop) but its true, Still a nice enjoyable ride overall though.
Finally it was time for Tom and Jerry, A very nice coaster with some good themeing but the one lap seems stingy, I've seen on similar coasters like this, and you normally get 2 laps for the pleasure but the dam spanish still wouldnt take it out of 1 lap mode despite the fairly low queue at the time I rode it, Oh Well.
It was now nearing nighttime, and that meant night rides, I went for a night ride on Batman and superman and both were even better at night, they are truely both superb rides. I then went for some dinner before exiting the park. I think overall the park is fantastic, the themeing is excellent, the rides are great and I think that for the most part, the staff are great too despite only finding ONE person in the ENTIRE park speaking english to me, I ceraintly enjoyed my time here and will be aiming for more trips here in the future
Overall, Its been a fantastic day but I do have a few rants about the park.
1. The seating is kinda assigned again on rides/coasters, but you will be allowed to sit where you want if you're at the front as the staff were not tecnniclly telling you where to sit, but it was'nt a case of waiting for front/back seats if they were full as you would only get shouted at the ride ops to move.
2. Queue jumpers and people smoking in line was happening everywhere at this park, I dont think there was a time I waited in a line near a smoker which was incredibly annoying and I lost count of the amount of queue jumping going on, I just dont get the spanish, Its like they hate queueing and will avoid it at all costs, Just get back in the dam queue and wait like the rest of us, GRRRRRR.
3. The park has a strange policy of operating the rides, Basiclly everything is run on low capasity in the morning but then is improved later in the day when the queues builds up but it puzzles me why it cant be done first thing in the morning, bear in mind I visited on a saturday and it got quite busy later in the day so I was puzzled by this stratergy. Why cant it is done straight away so people dont get angry. this happened when I queued up for the woodie and a second train was brought out, but we were not told, and most people were angry leaving the line cause they thought the ride had broken down, Its just annoying.
4. Whoever said this park is always dead is nuts because it got very busy on my visit, Granted I was here on a Saturday, but even people say Saturdays can be empty but this was definatly not the case on this day so it proves this park does get its busy days. The first 2-3hrs of park operation was brilliant, there was low queues everywhere and I managed a few walk on rides, but from then, crowds and queues really picked up, when the park layed on extra capasity on its rides, it certaintly helped which was nice but some queues really got too long, Rio Bravo was a whopping 2hrs+, and the rapids climbed upto 1hr when fully in operation too, The woodie also climbed to 50 mins. Quite bizarre was Batman and Superman never climbed above 30 mins max and most of the spanish left the rides alone and decided to ride the woodie instead(Why the hell do they love the woodie, and yet they have two of the best B&M coasters just yards away with a fairly short queue on both), Oh Well.
Warner Brothers 14/9/03
Justin had a suprise for us on this day in the form of an ERS on Superman which was very welcome from the park, this proved to be a great ERS although we only had 30 mins and the ride ops tryed to make us go round for each ride, It was only after a while that we persueded them to let us stay on if the seats were available. I managed about 4-5 goes and the ride is just truely excellent, definatly convinced its now my favourite Floorless.
we didnt have long in the park(about 3 and a half hrs) so it was time to quickly do as much as we could in that time and in just 2hrs spent of that, I managed 1 ride on Batman, 1 Ride on the Tower,1 Ride on Stunt Fall,1 Ride on the Woodie,1 Ride on Rio Bravo,1 ride on tom and Jerry and 1 ride on the Rapids. the last hr and a half was spent having lunch and hanging out in one of the bars where we found some sugar packets with a very unusual name(You will see a picture in the pictures section and be prepared to have a little giggle) Soon it was time to go home, and had on back to England. I would like to say at this point, Thanks to everyone who arranged the trip, It was absolutly superb and certaintly a trip I wont forget for quite some time, Its been a huge blast :)
And Lastly as always, Pictures from Warner Brothers are available at the address below from both days so ENJOY
