Tibidabo Report

After a very early flight out to Barcelona, we soon arrived and were off to out first port of call(Tibidabo). I have to say this is a park that is virtually unknown to me so didnt know what to expect. We arrived at about 11AM, however the park did not open till 12 lunchtime so the time was passed eating at the small cafe just outside the park and admiring some of the views. Anyway soon enough we were let me and were let free to roam the park for a good few hrs

First impressions are that the park is very unique how its built, Its all built on levels and I think its fantastic how they have built every ride and attraction to fit in with the landscape and surrounding areas. Also you can get some very impressive views of Barcelona too from quite a good good area of the park(you will be able to see some pictures of the views you get at the end of this report)

Anyway First up was Montana Rusa Steel, A Wildcat style coaster. I thought this was a very good coaster depsite how old it was, It also ran very smooth too. The other coaster is a Powered Mine Train Coaster called Tibidabo Express, although it is not a very thrilling ride, It does have a tunnel section with a very wild turn to the right hand side in pitch darkness which is fun.

There is also a good little log ride here which took us ages to actually find because the park is literally like one big maze, however although not a big water ride, It still delivers a nice little thrill. There is also a decent little fun house set in a castle which has some very nice effects throughout with a few nice suprises. Also the Magic Carpet and the Plane ride was good and enabled you to get some more good views of Barcelona.

The rest of the attractions include a dodgems ride, a very unique suspended Monorail ride which also had some dark sections, A Big Wheel that goes round at twice the normal speed of others, plus an assortment of kids rides, A Pirate Ship, A Mirror Maze and a museum full of various models including a model rollercoaster which worked.

They also had a Horror Walkthrough called Krueger Hotel, this is a fantastic First Class horror Walk through attraction and what makes it better is it wont cost you any extra money if you have a wristband. Normally I dont do these kind of attractions but I was forced on it by some members, and I'm glad I did(I liked it so much, I done it twice) I dont really want to spoil it for anyone but it is a must do attraction at the park. It is all extremly well done, with some really nice suprises along the way too, The themeing inside is also quite impressive.

Overall Tibidao is a fantastic little park(Its certaintly worth a visit if you're ever in Barcelona) I was extremly impressed and the whole atmostphere around the park is great. Most of the rides are very good too.

After leaving Tibidabo, we left for Port Aventura, On the way we were told we would get park access tonight so with an oppunity not to be missed, I strolled into the park for the last few hrs, I will go into more detail about Port Aventura on the next day report so this is a brief report on what we done on the night.

First stop was Dragon Karn and I can safely say the ride exceeded all my expectations, I had been itching to ride this coaster for years and it did not disapoint me, It is a fantastic B&M which is still grately smooth and a lot of fun, I took 3 rides on it and managed 1 front seat and 2 back seats, All of which were very impressive rides. Afterwards it was round to Diablo, I have to say this is not a great coaster and couldnt understand the reason behind the second lift hill which immedatly takes you onto the 3rd lift hill, However the long end Helix was nice :)

Next Stop was Templo Del Fiego, A fantastic attraction with some amazing themeing and some great effects, it was slighty hard to understand the story line, but I just enjoyed the effects(It got rather hot in that attraction too)

Tomahawk was next which we were all allowed to ride(When it was built, Adults couldnt ride it unless you had a kid, however these rules are very relaxed now) I think its a great little woodie, and duels nicely with Stampedia when timed right. Lastly It was time to round off the night with a few rides on Stampedia, I thought this was a fantastic woodie however Tonnerre De Zeus still ranks Number 1 woodie though. Stampedia duels brilliant though with some fantastic flybys and some very close races(BGT Please take note).

Overall a fantastic first day to the trip. Tibodabo is now ranked as my Number 1 Unique Park, and Dragon Karn ranks up there with my favourite B&M's too.

Pictures are available at the address below of Tibidabo only, Pictures of Port aventura will follow on the next day report, So ENJOY :)
