Terra Mitica Report

Terra Mitica 11/9/03

Note - Despite looking everywhere, I cant find my park map for this park so there are descriptions for rides I cant remember the name too so you will have to bear with me when I'm talking about them, however if anyone could help me out, It would be helpful, Thanks.

This was a park I had heard quite quite a lot about but I really was'nt expecting too much from it, we were also not looking forward to riding the woodie especially after reports that the coaster is very rough. We didnt know weather to laugh or cry when we were told we had an ERS on this coaster but at least it was still very welcome from the park seeing as we hadnt had any ERS's yet, we also had another suprise waiting which was lunch as well, Nice Job TM :)

So onto the ERS Session on Colossus and quite frankly, the ERS session went well and I thought the coaster was a lot better than I thought it was going to be, Granted I've ridden better and Yes there is roughness but after riding the likes of SOB at PKI and Phyclone at SFMM, this coaster seems reasonably smooth. I also took 4 rides on this in the end and some seats seemed better than others, I think the only solution is new trains as there was lots of vibration coming from there.

After the ERS we all had to wait for our Park tickets and lucnh vouchers and then it was time to explore the park. We were told the park wouldnt be very busy today and so it proved, There was virtually no waits for anything apart from the Shooting Attraction which attracted queues of upto 40 mins but everything else were walk ons or upto 10-15 mins max.

The next coaster we tryed was Alucinakis, a small kiddie coaster which they call the Mini Colossus. Its a nice little coaster but nothing special, you do get 2 laps for the pleasure though. Next up was the Giant Splash, a very good water ride with 2 good drops and a good soaking, we all wanted to try the water guns but all were not working, A shame.

Next up was a simulator ride located next door to the Giant Splash. This has a very puzzling storyline which none of us understood and the ride experience was'nt any good either, Very Jerky and not enjoyable, Oh well. Next us was the Lazer Shooting attraction, I was looking forward to riding this as I had heard many good things about it, however although I enjoyed it, I didnt like the fact that you dont get any score, and there isnt many targets to shoot at either meaning there are a lot of dead spots of no targets at all. The themeing however is very nice inside and the ending to the ride is good too, Also the ride suffers with a horrible loading/unloading procedure in that one car is loaded one at a time with them all stopping and starting behind each other and it takes you a while to get off the dam ride as well, So although some very annoying niggles with the rides, the ride is still just about enjoyable.

Next was a weird simulator ride in a pyramid, It was a very strange ride which has potential but the whole ride experience and story is just odd, Its a hard thing to describe and I dont think I've seen anything else like it(WEIRD). I also went to try the Water Dark Ride located near to the Rapids, this is a decieveing little ride which has great themeing and some nice effects but its a shame its couldnt come with a water drop really to make it that little bit better. There is also a Rapids Ride here and quite an enjoyable one, but once again, It was'nt a ride that got me very wet(It reached 85 degrees again on the day)

The last water Ride to try was the Log Ride, This was very good with had a backwards drop and a nice impressive forwards drop, managed to get quite wet on this one too. It was soon time for lunch now although we never imagined the delights we would actually get as it was enough to feed a family of 4 nearly, they gave us a Roll,A Salad,Fruit, A Yogert,Chicken and Chips, Pasta, and a Drink, and while this was generous and very nice, it was way too much for many of us, we ceraintly couldnt complain though.

Finally it was time to try the SLC called Tizona, and seeing as it was only new for 2003, Surely it couldnt be rough(Oh how wrong we were) I was stunned as I was beaten and thrown to death on this coaster despite it being a very new SLC, needless to say I only wanted one ride on this, the fact is though I cant understand how its got like this and how Vekoma had made it got so rough already????

I also noticed there was many shows at TM just like at PA and and after deciding it would be good to see at least one show here, I decided on seeing Ides of March, where the excitement of Rome comes to life in this beautiful coliseum with amazing illusions and real live gladiators with their chariots. The show was very impressive and the themeing inside was great, I was most impressed with the magic illusions. after the show, the Drop Tower was calling me so I took a quick ride, the problems with these tall drop towers is that they dont seem very intense compared to the short ones like Detonator at Thorpe, Its still quite an impressive ride though.

The last coaster to try was Tren Bravo, a twin duelling Powered ride where the trains leave in opposite directions, However the ride was not duelling today probably because of the low crowds, however this is still quite dispointing as I would have liked to see the ride duel, Prehaps another time. The Ride was ok but obviously you would have got a better effect with the duelling so I cant really give this ride a proper rating.

The rest of the time here at the park was spent exploring the park and the amazing themeing. I literally couldnt believe the amount of good themeing at this park, It is quite amazing at times and ranks up there with the likes of Europa and IOA certaintly. The problem I found with this park is that although its a nice enough park, the 2 main coasters are still quite disapointing and lets the rest of the park down in a big way, If Paramount decided to put in a killer Coaster along with some good flat rides, then this would be a very decent park to visit, Also the park certaintly does have room to expand even though it doesnt look like it does. Granted they cant expand behind Colossus(Its all Rock Faces etc) but could expand sidewards, I saw lots of free room behind the Drop Tower.

Overall a great day, and a huge thanks to TM for our ERS and huge lunch, it was much appreciated, and I would definatly visit again if Paramount were willing to invest in another big Ride/Coaster(A B&M would be nice Paramount, hint hint)

Anyway pictures are available at the link below as well, so ENJOY
