Port aventura Report
Port Aventura 9th September
This was the day I was looking forward too most on the trip, My First Offical Trip to Port Aventura, even though I went in this park for a few hrs the night before, I didnt have a chance to explore the themeing or most of the rides so this was my first real view of the whole park. Also I've been itching to visit this park for years so It was hard to hide my excitement when I walked through the gates and prepared to experience 14hrs in the park(10AM -Midnight)
First impressions are good, The themeing is excellent and I like the music that is played all around the park, Different music is played for the different areas of the park and they all fit in nicely. Anyway the day actually got off to a bad start, We all went to Dragon Khan but it was closed because of high winds, quite unbelievable when you learn it was a gorgeous 80 degrees outside, Anyway we then decided to go onto Stampedia but were stopped in our tracks again because that section of the park didnt open until 10.30AM, this is frustrating and couldnt understand the reason behind this, Oh Well
When the area finally opened, We all went to Tomahawk for a big takeover, but again this ended in disapointment as that was also closed due to high winds(It has to run in 40mph winds or under, but it was 45mph when we tryed to ride it). After all getting chucked off that ride, we headed round to Stampedia which was running, I absolutly love this woodie as it has some fantastic flybys and some wonderful duelling effects, Tonnerre still ranks Number 1 woodie for me though but this would come in my Top 3.
We soon all went off and done our own things, I went back to Dragon Khan hoping it would be open but it was still closed. Infact I might as well say now that Dragon Khan stayed CLOSED ALL DAY, this was a huge disapointment as I was looking forward to getting some more rides on this baby from last night, at this point however I was glad I came in last night for a few rides and there was also the chance it would open the day afterwards so there was still hope for more rides.
so me and a few other members went round doing other stuff and thought about doing some shows, however it suddenly dawned on me that the park has a lot of shows and it proved tricky what ones to see, In the end I managed to see 4 shows by the end of the day. First up was El Sol De Oriente with the best acrobats in the world, this was a very impressive show with some neat suprises but with a slighty difficult to understand story. We also saw El Misterio De Jing Chou also located in the China section of the park, a quite impressive magic show with some neat tricks, I also saw the Stunt Show located in the Far West Section, Sadly the show was edited because of windy conditions which meant not all stunts were preformed but it was still enjoyable anyway and lastly I saw the CanCan show in the Saloon, Again it was quite enjoyable and some of the ladies were lovely :)
I still enjoyed plenty of rides throughout the day as well, it was also helped by the fact that the park was'nt very busy at all either. The Giant Splash was very good but you didnt seem to get that wet which was'nt good because it was very hot and I was looking forward to a soaking, so I tryed the Log Ride as well, again a good ride but I didnt get grately soaked, Oh well. Also went on Sea Oddysey, not a bad simulator but I've certaintly ridden better
There was one Coaster I didnt ride last night and that was Tami Tami, a kiddie coaster which turned out to be the same course as the one at Univeral in Florida, Sadly we only got 1 lap round and queued up 20 mins for pleasure as well. I also got to ride the other coasters again as well a few times including Diablo,Tomahawk and more rides on Stampedia.
Also a funny fact about today, Believe it or not for about a hr in the middle of the day, Tami Tami was the ONLY ROLLERCOASTER operating in the park, Dragon Khan remained closed all day, Diablo went down for a good few hrs, Tomahawk remained closed until early evening because of the winds, and even Stampedia went down because of the high winds as well. Complety bizarre but it didnt really affect us too much.
The end of the night though was the best I've experienced at any park, because we were staying at the park hotel, we had room keys that enabled us to cut to the front of the queue for any rides with Fastpass, and me and a lot of members constantly hung round stampedia a lot and it enabled me to get about 3-4 rides on each side, of course at this time, the ride was running a lot better and was literally out of control(It was truely wonderful), I also went for late night rides on Diablo, the Pirate Ship and a midnight ride on Tami Tami(Still 1 lap though even though no one was riding and we were not aloud to stay on, BAH)
Overall a fantastic day, even though Dragon Khan was closed, I was never bored and always found lots of things to do, It really is a truely fantastic park, I certaintly enjoyed my visit here.
Port Aventura 10th September
This is only a brief report as we only stayed for about 6hrs on park before heading off to our head port of call(Terra Mitica), Once again we all headed off to Dragon Khan and even though it seemed windy, it was'nt as bad as yesterday so we all prayed and hoped the ride would be open and thankfully the ride was operational this time(YIPEE) and so to make up for lost time yesterday, I squeezed in 7 rides on DK all in various positions, I got lucky on one ride when the restraints wouldnt unlock and so we got sent round again for a second ride(YAY), Overall its a fantastic ride, Its not quite my favourite B&M but its certaintly a good one.
There was no need to rush round the park today as I had virtually done everything I wanted to do yesterday so it was just a time for any repeat rides and anything else I fancied doing. I think in the end, I managed Diablo,Stampedia,The Giant Splash again and The Rapids. I thought the Rapids was good but again it didnt get you very wet unless you happened to get really badly hit by the water cannons, however on my second go on the rapids, I was hit by a nice water cannon at the end of the ride which was welcome(Did I mention it hit 85 degrees at this point). Also this brings me to a point about the Spanish People and Water Rides(Do they not like getting wet) I was stunned that on this day, the water rides rarely recieved big queues,I walked on the Rapids both times and only waited 5 mins for the Giant Splash, it is puzzling to say the least but hey I was'nt complaining. The weird thing is if you compare this to an american park on a hot day with major water rides, they will be very popular and often hit upto 1hr queues so it really is quite odd
anyway at approx 4PM, we headed off to Terra Mitica, I have heard some good things about this park but was'nt expecting too much from it, So would it live up to my expectations, You will have to wait and see ;)
Lastly my Pictures from Port Aventura are available at the address below, these include pictures from both the days visits so there are some pics of Dragon Khan operating at least, Anyway ENJOY THEM.
