American ECC Trip Reports

From May 27th to June 13th, I embarked on a massive coaster trip with the European Coaster Club taking in a very impressive 21 parks, riding about 100 coasters, plus hoping to experiense 4 new 2006 coasters as well, It proved to be an exausting but amazing trip, and here are the reports for you all to enjoy

PLEASE NOTE - that while every park does come with a trip report, there are a few parks that do not have a picture update.

Coney Island(27/5/06)
So Coney Island home of the world famous Cyclone starts off our tour, this would be a brief stopover for a few hrs straight after coming off our flight, and it was certaintly a great way to cure that jeglag coming over to the states, the perfect way to start off the tour,View a Report and Pictures

Six Flags New England(28/5/06)
Six Flags New England would be our second stop on our tour, this is home to Superman Ride of Steel which is said to be one of the best steel coasters on the planet, but would it be at the top of my list. We also had 2 ERS's on Superman, and a lunch here, so we were treated very nicely by the park. View the Report and Pictures

Lake Compounce(29/5/06)
So Lake Compounce is our next park on this massive tour, This park is home to one of the wooden coaster greats named Boulder Dash but would it actually be any good??The Park is very nice and it would have been nice to spend more time here, but we were only here until the afternoon as we had a suprise park lined up for the evening. View the Report and pictures as usual

Clementon Lake(29/5/06)
Clementon Lake was the first of 3 suprise parks, and was an evening stop over after Lake Compounce. We only had a few hrs here while also having an ERS on the one main coaster here, It was a nice little stopover, but not really worth a visit on its own IMO. Anyway enjoy the report and pictures

Six Flags Great Adventure(30/5/06)
Six Flags Great Adventure was to be our second six flags park on the tour, this is of course home to some great looking coasters including Kinga Ka,The Superman Flyer,The Chiller, and El Toro(New for 2006) Unfortnutly El Toro was closed, but how would the park live upto SFNE which we visited a few days ago,Read and find out and then view pictures

Dorney Park(31/5/06)
Dorney Park was next, this is certaintly one park I was very much looking forward too mainly for Hydra and Talon(the 2 impressive looking B&M coasters), they also have a hyper coaster of course named Steel Force,Read the Report of how the day went, and then view pictures

Knoebels(1/6/06)
Our next stop brings us to Knoebels,Many people say this is one of the best parks in America, so what would I think as a first timer, We certinatly were treated to some great hospitality thats for sure with a lunch, a free ride on the Haunted House,a behind the scenes tour of the Flying Turns Coaster, and 2 ERS's on the main coasters,Read the Report, and then view pictures

Dutch Wonderland(2/6/06)
This was the day we also went to Hershey Park, but this turned into a suprise park in the morning, We didnt actually stay long at the park, just long enough for an ERS on both the 2 main coasters and then straight onto Hershey, There is just a short report from this park, There are no pictures available

HersheyPark(2/6/06)
After a quick stopover at Dutch Wonderland, it was straight onto HersheyPark which would unfortunutly see our busiest park day on the entire trip, seems every school in the area decided to take their school trip on the day we were there, I still managed to ride all the coasters though(excluding the Supersoaker) desite the big crowds, and awful weather conditions(the worst we encounted all trip). View the Report, and then pictures as usual

Lakemount(3/6/06)
Next it was onto Lakemount Park and another 2 park day as well. Lakemount is a nice little family park and is perfect for familes I think. We had ERS's on all the coasters here which was nice, and we were able to spend a good few hrs before leaving. Lakemount is also home to the Oldest Operating Coaster(Leap the Dips). View the Report, and then pictures

Idlewild(3/6/06)
After Lakemount, it was straight onto Idlewild. This was a delightful little park set in a lovely setting, and again is a great family park, this park is home to the Alton Towers Mouse Coaster, and a wooden coaster that Boulder Dash got its inspiration from. There is only a report from this park,No Pictures are available

Kennywood(4/6/06)
Kennywood was one of the parks I was most looking forward too on this trip, and its shows, this is a very nice looking park full of history, great rides and staff. The Phantoms Revenge is excellent as was The Thunderbolt(the woodie)Crowds were quite heavy today at the park, but we still managed all the coasters and rides with ease. Read the Report, and view pictures

Geauga Lake(5/6/06)
I've been to this park twice before, but that was when it was under Six Flags management, Now its run under Cedar Fair, so have things improved or got worse?? The club was treated well with some ERS's and a nice lunch, and Crowds were quiet as well which was nice,View the Report and then view pictures

Cedar Point(5/6/06 and 6/6/06)
You cant fail to love Cedar Point, and this sees my third visit to this park over the last 4 years, I loved it the previous times I came here(especially on Halloweekends) so has things stayed the same,Also would TTD still rule supreme over Kinga Ka??Has Raptor or Mantis Got Worse over time and Is Mean Streak Still Rideable,All Answers are revealed in the trip report,There are no pictures from this trip, but there are some from a previous trip I made in 2003

Wyandot(7/6/06)
This was a short filler stop on the way down to Kings Island, It was only a very small park so we only stayed for about 2-3hrs. The Main Reason was to ride the Wooden Coaster they have here, View a brief report, and a few pictures

Paramount Kings Island(7/6/06 and 8/6/06)
After Wynandot, It was down to Kings Island, this is my favourite paramount park out of the two I've visited, probably due to the better rides on offer and themeing. There is good coasters on offer here From the Beast to Top Gun, There is also Son Of Beast, but would I be brave enough to ride it again after the horrible experience I had last time on it,Find out in the report,Oh and then view pictures

Holiday World(9/6/06 and 10/6/06)
Here we come to a true highlight in the trip, there is always a lot of good things said about Holiday World, but just how impressive would it really be. 3 Great Wooden Coasters await here including their newest baby The Voyage, but does it rank as the best woodie ever??Also How do the other Woodies Ride,Is the WaterPark any good, and is this really the best park in America,Find out in the report, and view pictures as usual

Beech Bend(10/6/06)
Beech Bend was next after Holiday World, this is basiclly a park in the middle of no where and was not a very well known before 2006, but its put itself on the map now with a brand new woodie that the owners that placed all their life saving on that we came to ride, but has it payed off,Does it rank up there with the best of them,Find out inside, and View Pictures

DollyWood(11/6/06)
DollyWood was the next stop on our tour, and once again the club gets treated very well with an ERS on Thunderhead and a suprise ERS on Tennessee Tornado as well. This is a really beautiful looking park full of lovely themeing and rides, and its a shame we didnt spend more time here really as we left early to go to a suprise park,The Park should be better in 2007 with the annoucement of a Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter custom model which looks amazing going by the concept art. View just a report from this park,No Pictures are available

Lake Winnie(11/6/06)
Lake Winnie was our last suprise park, and a nice park for a stopover. It has a beatiful setting by a lake, and has a nice selection of rides, there is nothing big or fancy here, but its a good half day park. View a report only, there are no pictures available

Six Flags Over Georgia(12/6/06)
Six Flag Over Georgia sees our final park on this amazing trip. So With the previous six Flags Parks on this trip ranging from good to bad, How would this one rank up, There is also Goliath which is new for 2006, but is it the best coaster in the park, also Would DeJa Vu be open,Would Superman be better than the one at Great Adventure, and is Ninja quite possibly the worst coaster in the entire world,All the answers can be found inside, You can also view some pictures too.
